List of Alkaline Foods

This table shows the estimated acid or alkaline potential of different foods.  The positive values are alkalinzing; the negative values are acidifying.

Note that this tablet reflects only the primary effects on the acid-base balance. Coffee, for example, seems to be an "alkaline" food due to its high potassium content.  However, too much coffee leads to a stress reaction which, on the other hand, can lead to hyperacidity in the body.  Under no circumstances should you completely avoid foods from the acidifying group as they also provide valuable minerals, vitamins and proteins required by the body.  However, do aim to achieve a better and more balanced diet.
